Inspection good rating boost for care home

-

A CARE home has been awarded with a ‘good’ rating after a recent inspection.

Inspectors arrived at Haslingden Hall and Lodge unannounced to assess the management and quality of care given at the home among other factors which they determined as ‘good’.

Assessors praised its staff for being responsive to people’s needs, treating people with kindness and respect and spending time getting to know residents and their specific needs and wishes.

A spokesperson for Haslingden Hall care home said: “We are very pleased that the CQC has rated the home ‘good’ in all areas. This is testament to the hard work of the manager, Jo-Ann, and all of her team.

“Our aim is to create a safe and welcoming environment for all of our residents, somewhere they can genuinely call home.

“The CQC made particular reference to the fact that our team treat people with kindness and respect, and spent time getting to know them and their specific needs and wishes. This is vitally important and is at the very heart of what we do.

“The team, led by Jo-Ann, has made a range of improvements in recent months and will continue to ensure that these high standards are maintained at all times.”

Other positive notes from the report include a mention of residents telling inspectors they felt safe living in the home, and they were happy with the service provided.

The report published on June 29 also states that staff “received training on safeguarding vulnerable adults and had access to the provider’s policies and procedures” and sufficient precautionary steps were being taken to ensure risks associated with the spread of infection were reduced.

Inspectors commented that “people were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.”

Improvements the home had made since its last inspection were noted, “the recruitment procedures had been improved and ensured prospective staff were suitable to work in the home”.

The Lancaster Avenue-based accommodation is a purpose built care home that provides care and accommodation for up to 76 people including, people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities.
