Bhada lays foundation­s for victory

HASLINGDEN enjoyed a seven-wicket win against Middleton at Bentgate in Division 1.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first on a dry wicket, making a competitiv­e total of 217 from their 50 overs. James Price top-scored with 71 while Rehan Udwadia chipped in with 39.

But an unbeaten 91 from Mini Bhada laid the foundation for Hassy’s successful reply. Matthew Griffin (28) Zafar Gohar (40), Leighton Friend (25) and Alex Coleman (27no) provided strong support as the home side secured the victory in the 48th over having lost three wickets along the way.

Ramsbottom had less success in their run chase at Centre Vale, where home side Todmorden won by 61 runs having won the toss and opted to bat.

Amar Ullah hit 102 off 134 balls and pro Will Bosisto 108 off 88 deliveries as Tod reached 168-5 off their 50 overs.

Harry Caton struck 72 for Rammy in reply while Kieren Grimshaw hit 34, Thomas Parton 27 and Senuran Muthusamy 20, but the visitors fell short at 207 all out in the 47th over.

Bacup triumphed over Rawtenstal­l at Lanehead, winning by three wickets in a low scoring contest.

Rawtenstal­l won the toss and elected to bat on an inviting wicket.

They got off to a decent start, putting on 61 for the first wicket, Ishaq Hussain falling for 28.

However, the wickets of

D Aziz and Imran Abid followed quickly and while Rizwan Shafiq (24) and Abbaas Ahmad (19) offered some hope, the visitors were dismissed for 137.

Bacup’s Ben Lord claimed 6-48 while Chiraq Khurana took 4-34.

Simon Newbitt’s 49, 30 from Khurana and Lord’s 25 saw Bacup home in the 42nd over with seven wickets having fallen.
