THAT SENDING- OFF AT RWC 2011

-

“I didn’t see the red card. It was so quick. Alain Rolland just pulled it out, there was no reflection. Sam Warburton is not that type of player. I got up and kicked a table over in the box – our World Cup was over. I expected us to lose by 20-25 points.

“Up to that point I was confident we’d win the game and make the final because we were under no pressure. We did have chances – towards the end we should have set up for a drop-kick, and Leigh Halfpenny had a penalty that dipped under the bar. It was disappointing (to lose 9-8).

“I’m proud of what we did; we won a lot of hearts from the New Zealand public with the way we acted off the field and the great rugby we played on the field.”
