WALES U18 overcame their
English counterparts in the recent Aon International Series in South Africa, winning 26-20.
Wales scored tries through
Cameron Lewis, Sam Costelow
(who got three conversions), Osian Knott and Teddy Williams. England’s George Barton scored a try and kicked ten points. Harvey Beaton also crossed.
Coach Jim Mallinder said: “We went a few points down in the first half, Wales played well and put us under a lot of
pressure. However, in the second half we showed real spirit. The finishers who came off the bench made a really good impact and on another day we’d have won the game.”
The Crusaders made headlines after coaxing New Zealand-born fly-half Campbell Parata, 18, from Southport School on Australia’s Gold Coast to the Nelson branch of their academy. He also signed a two-year development contract with the Tasman Rugby Union.
