It’s a case of more of the same for Exeter as Rob Baxter had minimal dealings in the transfer market, with Alex Cuthbert and Santiago Cordero, who arrived late last season, the only signings. They’ve lost experience in the pack but, even without Thomas ‘the Tank’ Waldrom, their driving maul should still steamroller certain opponents.

Then there are the 17 bonus points that were so crucial in securing top spot, albeit that they fell short in the final.

With success comes England call-ups and Baxter’s ability to manage his resources during Test windows with a growing number of Chiefs involved will be key in their bid to win a second top-flight title.
