DISCUSSION POINTS

-

They did it all over again, didn’t they? When the dust settled on last season, Saracens were – for the fourth time in their history – crowned champions of England. Like on so many occasions before they pulled through at the end, timing their title run to perfection.

It wasn’t plain sailing all season, though. At one point, Saracens lost seven games on the spin in all competitions. When the international windows opened up, Saracens were not the same force and when Test players came back it took them some time to get over the hump. In fact, their talismanic fly-half Owen Farrell started only half of Sarries’ regular-season matches, all told.

Although Saracens players were also mysteriously omitted from many end-of-season awards shortlists, they won’t care – they have the silverware that matters, wresting the title from Exeter.

Now they want to do it all again.
