Stewart’s treble haul

-

IT WAS a treble for Allan Stewart at Fassnidge Bowls Club after he landed three titles at the club’s Finals Day.

Stewart beat Alan Hooper in both the Championship and Men’s finals, as well as seeing off John George in the 2 Wood final.

Sue George also took home three trophies after beating Karen Elliott in both the Ladies’ final and Committee Cup, before teaming up with Sharon Lawrence and Keith Winchester to overcome Ryan George, Derek Cook and Trevor Fitzgerald in the Triples.

Robert Trimmer was not far behind with a double hit, getting the better of Lawrence in the Novices final and Dave Benn in the Handicap, while Lawrence was also on the losing side, along with Keith Winchester, in the Pairs final, won by David George and Brian Lawes.

All of which capped a fine season, which saw the Uxbridge-based club finish second in the Three Counties League and win their division in the Chiltern and Thames League, only to be beaten by The Mill in the semis of the knock-outy phase, and then lose by one shot to Gerrards Cross in the third place play-off.

Any players, either new or experienced, interested in joining the club for next season should contact Alan Hooper on 01895 257 507.

THEY lost on two out of three rinks, but Harlington Bowls Club still managed to beat Stanwell 45-39 last Thursday.

The rink of Mary Redpath, Brenda Reed and Dave Anderson made all the difference, their 23-8 win making up for narrow defeats on the other two.

Meanwhile, Harlington are looking to recruit new members.

Coaching is available and you only need flat shoes or trainers to start – all other equipment is available for use.
