PMJ’s ready to jazz up town’s literary festival

JAZZ fans are in for an afternoon treat as Hillingdon’s smoothster­s Pimp My Jazz will be performing a fine mixture of originals, Latin jazz classics and the occasional medley of standards on Sunday October 9 from 1pm when they play at the Hillingdon Literary Festival at Brunel University on Kingston Lane, Uxbridge.

It is free entry all weekend, starting at 5pm on Friday October 7 until Sunday October 9 with guest speakers Will Self (Friday) and Ken Livingston­e (Sunday).

Pimp My Jazz are a well accomplish­ed band of musicians fronted by singer Lea Lyle (pictured).

Formed in June 2011, it is fair to say that guitarist Gavin Sparkes and lyricist/ manager Kay Shelley are th the driving force of this s seven piece outfit.

Lea’s vocals are b backed by John S Spraggon (lead guitar), G Gareth Chelley (s (saxophones), Phil Craddock (keyboards), Terry Peaker (bass) and K Kweku Graves (drums).
