Hayes finish on a high

-

THE Hayes and District Bowling Association brought the curtain down on their season with a 85-75 to win over Court Park on Sunday.

Hayes won three of the four rinks and drew the other, with the best one a 27-10 triumph for Jacinta Monteira, Trevor Fitzgibbon and Steve Kirton.

This followed a 124-110 defeat to Wendover last Wednesday, in which Hayes won four of the six rinks, not least Rosemary Lamming, Norma Newman and David Morley’s 25-17 victory.

The Association’s finals day was also held recently, with a close singles final being decided on the last end in favour of A Campini (Uxbridge BC), who beat R Wyeth (Hayes BC) 21-19.

The pairs final was an all Rosedale BC affair in which P Costin and P Picknell beat L Wakefield and C Langan 24-20, while the triples was won by Uxbridge BC’s J Quesnel, M Kopp and R Tiller 14-12 against Hayed BC’s R Wyeth, J Ruffell and W Daley.

The fours final saw Hayes BC’s J Clarke, D Clarke, R Graham and S James overcome Court Park BC’s E Chilver, F Pickard, B French and T French 20-14, while Court Park’s P James, B French, J Haw, E Chilver, T Williams and M Ransom lifted the Cuttell Shield after seeing off Concrode BC’s

E Payne, R Leatherby, P Higs, A A’Bear, R Ayres and J Bird 33-29.

HARLINGTON Bowls Club saw out their season on a winning note after coming up trumps 73-36 at Bessingby last Tuesday.

Short on numbers, they had to borrow two Bessingby players for the game to go ahead, and won on all three rinks.

While Joan Fulbrook, Brenda Reed and Derek Cutmore edged to a 18-17 victory in their rink, the other two were won somewhat convincingly.

Alan Macolive and Steve Brennan teamed up with Bessingby loanee number one to win 28-13, while Betty Poole and Terry Markham, along with Bessingby loanee number two, won 27-6.

Anyone looking to join the club next season should call 01895 443 559. Coaching is available, you only need flat shoes or trainers to start and all other equipment is available for use.
