THIS seven-week-old puppy was spotted for sale outside a underground station in west London, in a poor and malnourished condition.

Named Mocha, the pooch was brought for £200 at Ruislip tube station, after a couple passing by became concerned for the ill pooch.

She was given her named after the seller was spotted feeding her coffee.

The border collie took a turn for the worse within hours of being in her new home and became very sick, suffering from bloody diarrhoea overnight.

The owners contacted their local vets but unable to afford the high treatment fees, which had been overlooked, they took her to The Mayhew Animal Home Brent .

Sadly for the couple she was handed over to the vets so vet nurses and kennel staff could provide her with the proper medical care needed.

Extremely malnourished, the vet team got to work with Mocha’s treatment, giving her round-the-clock care and feeding her small meals to get her back to a healthy weight. Mocha is now being fostered by one of Mayhew’s experienced carers as she makes a full recovery, playing and running around.

Animal welfare manager, Zoe Edwards, said too often ‘pets are bought on a whim’, adding “We are so glad that Mocha is on the right tracks to a full recovery.”

“It is completely irresponsible to sell a puppy outside of a tube station, and unfortunately we see this kind of situation all too often,” she said.

“Sadly there are lots of unwanted animals in rescue centres like ours that have come in from people who have bought pets on a whim without taking into consideration the responsibilities and needs of the pet. Irresponsible breeders, like Mocha’s seller, can often have little or no concern for the welfare of dogs and puppies and no regard for who buys them.”

Once Mocha has been neutered and is a few weeks older, she will be ready for a permanent home.
