Give a happy new year to Hogmanay

-

IALWAYS think that this is an awkward time of year.

Christmas seems like a lifetime ago but you can never be sure if you should still be wishing people a happy new year when you meet them. As they say, it’s a first world problems.

Many people like to make, and quickly break, New Year resolutions, often planning to take on and change the world.

Others are already breaking promises –“but mummy, I promise if I have a puppy or a kitten I will look after it and take it for walks” – or finding that the expense of Christmas is a real burden and an extra mouth to feed and unexpected vets bills are too much to cope with.

Our Animal Welfare Officers (AWOs) are already picking up the pieces and are busy dealing with animals which have been heartlessly abandoned.

Meet Hogmanay. She was found behind some bins and taken in to our care on New Year’s Eve.

She is a sweet little thing and needs a warm and loving home to get 2017 off to a great start. She has been to the vets to be spayed so she is having a bit of a rest at the moment but will be ready to leave us very soon.

All of the cats in our care have been neutered and vaccinated, so all you will need to provide is food, toys, somewhere to sleep and lots of love and cuddles

Remember that a pet is a long-term commitment and you should think long and hard before making any decisions.

If you think you could offer a forever home to Hogmanay or any of the small animals, cats and rabbits we currently have looking for a home for life, then please call us on 020 8966 9688 or email us at info@rspcamiddlesex.org. uk.

To view some of the many pets we have looking for new homes you can visit our website at www. rspca-middlesex.org.uk where you will also find more information about the work we do at RSPCA Middlesex North West Branch.

Here’s looking forward to a fantastic 2017 and, if I haven’t said it before, happy new year from everyone here at RSPCA Middlesex North West branch.
