Agency to donate slice of sale fee to charity

AS part of Lakin & Co’s ongoing commitment to support local charities, the firm has announced that for each property it sells it will donate £100 of its sales fee to the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.

Having previously supported the charity with fundraising, the team at Lakin & Co firmly believes in the excellent and worthwhile work the charity carries out, so began looking for other ways in order to support them.

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provide bespoke emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

Its family support workers provide a lifeline to these families and children, bringing support and help to families who so desperately need it at home, in hospital, and in the community.

Each family is designated a family support worker who will help the whole family, including the sick child, parents, carers, brothers, sisters, and grandparents.

That one support worker helps the family emotionally as they navigate through a new life they never imagined they’d ever face. Their support worker also helps with the practicalities of taking care of a sick child as well as siblings, while trying to keep life as normal as possible.

When asked why they look forward to Rainbow Trust visiting their sick brother twice a week, one child simply answered: “Because it makes Mummy smile again.”

Rainbow Trust supports more than 2,200 families throughout the country in their greatest time of need. There is no dedicated government funding for children’s social palliative care – the element of support which can often be the difference between a parent coping, or not.

Rainbow Trust can, and does, help families cope. The only thing that stops it helping more families is a lack of funding.

The charity does not charge families for its services. But thanks to its support, families are better able to cope, and can face the future whatever it may hold.
