THE QUEEN GIVES ROYAL SEAL OF APPROVAL TO RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

MEMBERS of the royal family viewed some of the horticultural creations on display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show when they visited on Monday.

The Queen and Prince Philip were among those attending the world famous show, held in the grounds of Royal Hospital Chelsea, during the special launch day.

The flower show opened to the public on Tuesday and runs until Saturday.

The monarch and Duke of Edinburgh were greeted by Sir Nicholas Bacon, president of the Royal Horticultural Society, before being led around a selection of displays.

Exhibitions include Radio 2’s Feel Good Gardens, modelled around the five senses, plus the Sir Simon Milton Foundation garden which was inspired by the Covent Garden flower market.

Meanwhile, a garden set within an urban landscape will, for the first time at the 104-year-old RHS show, feature street art.

This year’s event will host more than 500 exhibitors and is expected to attract some 165,000 visitors from around the world.
