FAMILY STAGE FUN DAY FOR HOSPITAL UNIT THAT CARED FOR ISABELLA, BORN WEIGHING 722 GRAMS
PARENTS TO HOLD FUNDRAISER FOR HILLINGDON HOSPITAL’S CHERUBS UNIT
A “MIRACLE baby” who developed an infection after being born prematurely at just 25 weeks has made an astonishing recovery.
Isabella Wilson-Stefanovic was born last July and transferred to Cherubs, the neonatal centre at Hillingdon Hospital.
While at Cherubs, Isabella was incubated and made good progress before the tide turned after she caught an infection, followed by a grade four brain bleed, and a build up of fluid on the brain. Doctors were unsure she would live but now playful Isabella breathes and eats without assistance.
A shunt in her brain to drain fluid is the only difference between Isabella and any other toddler.
Isabella was born prematurely weighing just 722 grams and spent a total of 112 days in hospital and her family are now organising a fundraiser for the staff who helped keep their baby girl alive.
The Family Funday at Barnhill Community Centre in Hayes will be held on Saturday June 17 from 12pm to 6pm and will feature activities for kids to enjoy.
“There must be other families who have benefited from the incredible work they do at Cherubs,” said Isabella’s mother Leanne.
“Isabella is with us because of the care and attention of the people at Cherubs and we want to give something back to them for all they’ve done for us.”
The Mayor of Hillingdon will also be attending and it’s a chance to meet the “miracle baby” whose story touched thousands of hearts when GetWestLondon first reported it in March.
