Breaking down burglary figures

CRIME ACROSS LONDON, BY BOROUGH

MET Police have released figures showing which London boroughs had the highest number of burglaries from January to July 2019.

Since the start of the year there have been 524,820 recorded crimes in the capital, of those 46,604 have been for burglary.

Below are the amount of recorded crimes for burglary in each borough.

Also included are the Ministry of Housing, Communitie­s & Local Government’s 2018 figures for the amount of dwellings in each borough.

This enables the percentage of homes burgled to be presented.

32. Kingston Upon Thames - 581

Crime count January to July: 7,704 offences, 42.65 crimes per 1,000 people. Number of dwellings: 67,141 – 0.85 per cent burgled.

31. Richmond - 841

Crime count: 7,372 offences, 36.86 crimes per 1,000. Dwellings: 85,141 – 0.98 per cent burgled.

30. Sutton - 779

Crime count: 7,985 offences, 38.52 crimes per 1,000. Dwellings: 82,978 – 0.93 per cent burgled.

29. Barking and Dagenham - 899

Crime count: 15,409 offences, 49.6 crimes per 1,000 people. Dwellings: 109,777 – 1.38 per cent burgled.

17. Brent - 1,532

Crime count: 17,491 offences, 52.0 crimes per 1,000 people. Dwellings: 118,707 – 1.29 per cent burgled.

16. Croydon - 1,567
