Van flips over near roundabout

A MOPED rider was killed on the A40 in West London after he crashed with a lorry.

The crash left the man, in his 30s, with serious injuries which led to him being pronounced dead at the scene on Western Avenue.

He died on the busy dual carriagewa­y near the Gypsy Corner junction in Acton shortly after police were called to the scene at 6.20pm on Tuesday January 21.

Metropolit­an Police said the lorry and moped crashed just before the junction with Horn Lane between Acton and Park

Royal. The victim’s next of kin have been informed.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene of the crash but was not arrested.

The Metropolit­an Police Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit are now appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following the fatal collision on the A40 westbound.

A DRIVER was taken to hospital as a “precaution” after a van overturned in Hayes.

The vehicle was left on its side in Lansbury Drive, at the roundabout by Fairholme Crescent, after crashing at around 2.10pm on Tuesday, January 21.

Officers from the Metropolit­an Police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were called and the road was closed while the driver was helped and the van was lifted.

A spokespers­on for the Met said: “Police were called at 2.13pm on Tuesday, January 21 to reports of an overturned van on Lansbury Drive at the junction with Fairholme Crescent in Hayes. No arrests have been made. Buses were diverted while police deal with the incident.
