Tube trains delayed as Storm Ciara blows tree onto tracks
SERVICES RUNNING THROUGH UXBRIDGE SUSPENDED WHILE DEBRIS WAS CLEARED
SEVERAL London Underground lines were part suspended after trees fell on tracks in west London on Sunday due to the relentless high winds caused by Storm Ciara.
With flights and trains already cancelled and delayed, the Central, Piccadilly and Metropolitan Line became part suspended due to trees falling on tracks.
One tree fell on the line near Eastcote and resulted in suspended services between Uxbridge and South Harrow on the Piccadilly line and between Uxbridge and Harrow-onthe-Hill on the Metropolitan line.
Both lines were suspended at around 10am on Sunday, suggesting the tree fell at that point.
The Piccadilly had already been running with severe delays in the morning across the entire line from
Cockfosters to Heathrow after a signal failure.
On the Buckinghamshire branch of the Metropolitan line, there were severe delays between Moor Park and Amersham and Chesham after a tree fell on the line at Chorleywood. There were severe delays across the Metropolitan line.
On the Central line, a tree fell near East Acton at around 10.30am, meaning no service between White City and North Acton.
Meanwhile, rail disruption was being felt across the country due to the danger posed by winds of around 60 mph, which swept across the country.
A trampoline, blown onto train tracks in Chelsfield, south London, disrupted rail services from the south-east into the capital.
Drivers had been warned not to travel unless necessary with conditions on the roads tricky, especially for high-sided vehicles.
