HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to a man from Uxbridge has died of coronavirus.

Danny Sharma, from Hillingdon, spent days in hospital suffering with the virus before he sadly died in the early hours of Thursday, March 26.

He was believed to have been already suffering from underlying health conditions.

Friends, family and loved ones have all paid tribute to him on social media, saying he had a “heart of gold”.

Danny shared updates of his struggle with coronavirus while he was in hospital. He first posted about having the virus on March 22, although he may have contracted it long before then. Danny then shared a ‘Day 3 update’ on March 23, where he said he was in intensive care in Hammersmith. On March 24, Danny posted his ‘Day 4 update.’ “Looks nice out from the window wish I was participating in the Vitamin D,” he wrote. “Finding hard to breath still fighting.”

After losing Danny, tributes have flooded social media.

“Rest in peace fly high such a lovely person with a beautiful soul,” said one person. Another added: “You were always happy and funny and just an all round great guy. Gone far too soon mate. RIP.”

Danny was a well known Sunday League football player in his local area. He also worked on the #HelpTheHomeless project.

Danny also helped to run Ivy Leaf football club. The club tweeted: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of one of our own. He passed away early this morning and will be terribly missed, not just by us, but by the whole of Sunday league football.”

A FUNDRAISING page has been set up to raise money for the brave nurses at Hillingdon Hospital who have been treating patients with coronavirus.

As more people across London test positive for Covid-19, hospitals are becoming stretched and nurses and doctors are being overworked.

Those working on the intensive care units at the capital’s hospitals are working long hours and some double shifts.

As a way to say thank you for the amazing work they do, one Hillingdon resident has started a Gofundme page to raise money for those working on the front line at Hillingdon Hospital.

The resident says the nurses and doctors “deserve a little treat once life goes back to normal”.

The page reads: “As everyone knows the coronavirus is awful and is affecting all of our lives. We are so lucky in the UK to have the fantastic NHS to look after us at this scary time.

“The NHS wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of the doctors and nurses who are sacrificing everything to look after us.

“I want to start a fund for the ICU angels who are working to the bone at Hillingdon Hospital to look after us all.

“These heroes of our community deserve a little treat once life goes back to normal again.”

In an update, they said: “Thank you all so much for your generous donations. Let’s keep sharing and donating and show these heroes how grateful we all are.”

A number of people who have donated have commented on the page.

One said: “These people do an amazing and tough job. Thank you.” Another added: “We need to let NHS staff know how much we appreciate what they are doing and how brave they are.”

It comes after it emerged intensive care doctors and nurses are being told to care for more patients than normal as hospitals experience a surge in Covid-19 cases.

More general doctors and nurses and those who are less experienced will help support the most senior medics as they care for those who are seriously ill with coronavirus, according to the Health Service Journal (HSJ).

Nicki Credland, chairwoman of the British Association of Critical Care Nurses, confirmed that the plans have been agreed across England and it is “the only option” available.

She said: “There will absolutely be a lot of concern about this in the profession, but it’s the only option we’ve got available.

“We simply don’t have the capacity to increase our staffing levels quickly enough.

“It will dilute the standard of care, but that’s absolutely better than not having enough critical care staff.”
