FRODSHAM NEWS Motor show is set to be biggest yet

-

CLASSIC cars, buses and tractors are among the attractions at this year’s Cheshire Motor Show and Vintage Fair.

The Frodsham festival is aiming to be ‘bigger and better than ever’ in its 10th year.

It will be held from 10am to 4pm on July 31, at Frodsham Community Centre on Fluin Lane.

Hundreds of vehicles will be on show including classic, American, customised, and special interest cars. Motorcycles, vintage buses and tractors will also be on display.

Car clubs from across the UK will be bringing their muchloved vehicles with certificates and trophies for the best vehicles in their class.

Last year’s show worked with Claire House Children’s Hospice, the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Rotary’s polio eradication programme.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Frodsham and Helsby, the event has raised more than £20,000 for local, national and international charities since it began.

Show chairman Eddie Basnett said they were aiming to double the amount of money raised this year.

He said: “We can’t do this without the public’s help. Firstly, we need everyone to put the show date of July 31 in their diaries.

“We are also looking to significantly increase the number of trade stands – from sole traders selling homemade vintage clothing to children’s entertainers like face painters – because this boosts the coffers too.

“Every year the show goes from strength to strength and it’s a firm favourite with families, young and old and car enthusiasts alike. In our 10th year we’d love to have our best ever fundraising effort.”

The main hall will host a vintage fair with stalls for fashion, arts and crafts, jewellery and home furnishings with live music from 1950s showgirl singer Bexi Owen.

Frodsham Model Car Club will be putting their radio-controlled cars through their paces on the indoor race circuit and there will be a small funfair for younger visitors.

Back by popular demand will be the 12 cylinder 37 litre Rolls Royce aero engine which wowed showgoers last year.

Entry to the show is £4 for adults and free for exhibitors, children under 14 and senior citizens.
