Kingsley’s ‘B’ team deliver a sting to shock their ‘A’ counterparts
ON the league front in the Runcorn & District Bowling Association last week, Section One pacesetters Tigers Head took on third-placed Hazel Pear and ran out the winners 165-95.
Three players won in single figures – Mike Koral (21-6) father Chris (21-8) and Barry Ellams (21-9).
The only reply for the Pear came from Ray Grummit who won his match 21-18.
With some games still outstanding, the tables don’t give a true record.
Second-placed Kingswood ‘A’ travelled to take on Pavilions ‘B’ and just lost out 139-137 in a hard-fought encounter. The best winner on the night was Pavilions’ Steve Bate (21-8).
Fourth-placed Helsby ‘C’ visited Norton Arms ‘A’ and suffered a terrible 164-88 thrashing.
No fewer than five Norton Arms players won in single figures – Gareth Dimelow (21-3), Phil Hughes (21-5), John Hughes (21-7), Peter Goodwin (21-8) and Terry Evans (21-9). The only reply for Helsby came from Jim Walker Jnr who won 21-17.
Section Two leaders Overton travelled to take on the Young Guns from Helsby ‘D’ and returned disappointed as they fell to a 136-121 defeat.
Young Callum Keating (21-4) and Sam Gittings (21-8) led the way for Helsby with the best reply for Overton from Phil Wainwright (21-8).
Second-placed Kingsley ‘A’ took on their colleagues from the ‘B’ team and they didn’t have it all their own way, with the latter the winners 133-123.
Peter Gelling (21-7) and Geoff Ford (21-8) led the way for the ‘B’ team.
Replying for the ‘A’ team were Michael Clay and Gary Greenhalgh who both won 21-9.
Third-placed Corporation took advantage of the top two losing with a superb 165-92 victory over Willow Brook.
Ollie Kerr (21-4), Derek Mellor (21-6) and Kenny Lewis (21-7) led the way for Corporation.
Peter Okell’s 21-18 win was the only reply for Willow Brook.
Kingswood ‘B’ took on fourth placed Subscription and secured a comfortable 164-104 win.
Graham Donnelly who triumphed 21-3 was the outstanding player on the night.
Section Three pacesetters Norton Arms ‘B’ travelled to take on third-placed Egerton ‘B’ with the Arms running out the winners 150-127.
Young Lewis Pearce who won 21-6 was the best winner on the night for Norton.
Second-placed War Memorial took on Castle Park ‘A’ and secured a superb 167-107 victory.
Ron Wilding (21-6) and Robert Plant (21-8) led the way for War Memorial.
The only reply for the Castle came from Mike Boulton who edged his contest 21-20.
Fourth-placed Rock Park ‘B’ travelled to take on Castle Park ‘B’ and in the battle of the Parks it was Castle that ran out the winners 164-114.
Barbara Williams (21-8), Lynn McDonald and Peter Snelson (both 21-9) led the way for the Castle.
The best reply for the Rock was registered by Christine Wood (21-18). ● Club treasurers are reminded that subscription fees will be issued soon and the deadline date for payment is July 31. Rule 15 will apply.
