By George what an effort as Hornets do not allow Bridge to cross

-

HFH U12 16 Ince Rose Bridge U12 0 HALTON Farnworth Hornets had to weather some early attacks after a couple of mistakes gifted Ince Rose Bridge field position but credit to the hosts’ defence as it stood firm.

The first half was dominated by defence at both ends of the field.

Hornets managed to break the Ince line a few times through George Delaney and Nathan Bannerman but despite their best efforts they could not cross the whitewash, making it a scoreless first half.

Hornets stepped it up in the second half and dominated field position.

The pressure soon told as good approach work led to Sam Haynes charging over for the first try.

Good line speed and defensive pressure led to more good ball for the Hornets and a loose pass was kicked through by Adam Jack who regathered to score.

The next try was wellconstructed as Ben Lane put Nathan into space for him to draw the full-back and feed George for the try of the game.

Charlie Glover kicked two goals to make the final score 16-0.

This was an excellent performance from all 20 players

Man-of-the-match went to George Delaney who punched holes in the Ince defence all day and tackled very strongly.

Second was Nathan Bannerman who pushed George all the way with a very strong game in attack and defence.

Third was Evan Kilgannon who continued his good form with a strong running game from dummy half and good defence. Saddleworth U13 10

HFH U13 40 JOSEPH GOODALL closed a dominant second half with his dive over the line in the final minutes of the game to contribute to a pleasing Hornets league win away to Saddleworth Rangers.

The first half looked to be going the home team’s way when they scored first but a try apiece from Jamie Holroyd and Reese Sumner put the Hornets 10-4 ahead at the break.

A fortunate rebound of the post allowed Saddleworth to even up the scores.

However, a dominant period of play from Halton prove far too much for the Rangers who could not prevent a brace of tries from Owen Blackwood, a second four-pointer from Sumner and a single from Alex Sutton.

Marco Williamson added the extras with five well-kicked conversions.
