GOVE RUINED MY PROSPECTS
AS a 17-year-old girl who hopes to study European languages at university, the result of the referendum was devastating.
My possible opportunities of studying or working in Europe in the future are threatened and I didn’t even get a say in it.
Studying A-levels is already difficult, owing to the mess Michael Gove caused as Secretary of State for Education.
The complete abolition of AS- levels doesn’t happen until next year but, being the transition year, it means two of my subjects (English Literature and History) have to be taken as either a full A-level or an AS-level.
This means that, next year, I will have to redo the AS-level exams I did this year if I want a full A-level.
Difficult enough, as I will have to revise two years of work with no past papers and not many resources available – and, to cap it all, he has even made the exams harder!
So, it will be more difficult for me to obtain good A-level results and future opportunities will be severely restricted, thanks to the decision to leave the EU, a cam- paign Gove played a key part in.
Michael Gove has disadvantaged me twice without any input from me or anyone else my age – and I don’t want to think how he would wreck my life a third time if he became leader of the Conservative Party.
