THE Funeral of Mrs Mary Elizabeth Holt (Marie) of Derwent Road, Widnes has taken place, her death having occurred at Warrington Hospital on May 11, aged 75.

A service was held at St Bedes, Widnes on June 7, conducted by Bishop John Rawsthorne, followed by burial. Marie was retired. Marie was divorced and a loving mother to Dennis and Darrin. Grandchild­ren included Tracy, Daniel, Liam, Simon, Hayley and Stephanie.

She loved being around people, especially her grandchild­ren when they visited. She will be sorely missed for her character and always brought laughter into the room. She was always a good worker, even liked to hand make clothes for special occasions for many friends and neighbours in her younger days. Also Marie loved going on holidays to places including Wales and Blackpool.

John was a retired assembly worker, Fords, Halewood.

Widow of the late Mary Pearsall, father of Claire, Helen, Anne and John and grandfathe­r.

John was a devoted family man. His late wife Mary was the love of his life. They met at a New Year’s Eve Party at West Bank, in the shadow of the old Transporte­r Bridge. John enjoyed the music of Eddie Fisher, was a Dad’s Army fan and loved a flutter on the horses. He enjoyed dances at the Columba Hall, St Bedes Club and Ford Retirees Club. John served his country with National Service in the Army.
