HFH Reds U10 24 Ince Rose Bridge 24 THE Hornets had to settle for a draw in a hard-fought encounter at home to Ince Rose Bridge.

They started the game well when Mason Leather scooted from dummy half and used his strength to force his way over the line. He also added the extras.

Ince hit straight back with a converted try of their own to level the scores.

However, the Hornets were soon back in front and it was a carbon copy of the first try, this time Harry Robertson powering through to touch down and tag on the two.

When the same Hornets player quickly followed this up with his second of the game – a great individual effort from his own half using his pace to round the defence and score with Luke Lamey kicking the goal – it seemed the hosts were taking a grip on the game.

However, on the stroke of half-time Ince scored a six-pointer to leave the Hornets with a slender 18-12 lead.

Chances were at a premium in the second period, but the Hornets were the first to add to their tally when Jake Davies drove over from close range and added the two.

But Ince refused to lie down and scored two unanswered tries of their own to level the scores at 24-24.

Despite their best efforts, Hornets were unable to add any further points to their score and it was a fair result that the game ended in a draw.

Coaches’ award went to both Joe Owens and Reily O’Brien for the excellent impact they had on the game when coming off the bench.
