Magical musical tells tale of the Piper
ANEW production will be performed over the school holidays at a Runcorn theatre. The Pied Piper by ABD Productions is coming to The Brindley.
It will be performed between Thursday, July 28, and Sunday, July 31.
The professional cast will be joined by talented children from schools across Halton, with the score by Anne Dalton and enriched by a dazzling set and costumes.
A Halton Council spokesman said: “We all know about the town of Hamelin and the invasion of rats. Well, these rats are bigger, bolder and braver than you could ever imagine.
“What’s more, they have a leader, Marshall Moulder, who has a sidekick, Corporal Canker and their devilish plans nearly bring ruin to the town.
“However, as in the traditional tale they are thwarted by Peter, The Pied Piper.
“For the citizens of Hamelin this comes at a terrible price. All their children become trapped in a mountain cave.
“Fortunately, a possible means of escape is revealed by Mistress Spellbind who explains the Legend Of The Locked Mountain and the terms of the hazard- ous quest to break its powerful hold.
“She also introduces us to a host of fabulous characters who feature in this most magical of musicals.
“We meet the supremely dotty Heterogenians, we encounter the mighty flame dancers at Feldor’s Furnace and we are repelled by the cannibalistic Trogs.”
Tickets for the production cost £12 for concessions and children up to 16 and £16 for adults.
Family tickets cost £50 and groups of 20 or more can enter for £12.
