ABUILDING firm has teamed up with Halton Housing Trust to complete a £9.5m contract to build 95 homes on a former Runcorn school site.

Seddon was picked by the social landlord to complete the £9.5m contract, which will include installing 24 one-bedroom apartments, 45 twobed and 14 three-bed houses at the ex-Grange infant, junior and nursery site on Latham Avenue.

The site closed after the formation of the Grange all-age through school.

Eighty-three of the properties will be for social rent and managed by Halton Housing Trust with the remaining 12 homes to be marketed for general sale by Seddon Homes.

Work has already begun on the scheme, which has been designed by PRP architects.

Completion is due in December 2017.

Duncan Williams, Seddon’s regional director for the North West, said: “This latest project with Halton Housing to build 95 quality homes for local people in Runcorn is another good example of how we work with the sector to find solutions for new build projects.

“Seddon has a fantastic pedigree in delivering schemes for social housing providers – we have secured around £31m of social housing contracts over the past 12 months, and have also won positions with all the major frameworks in the sector.”

Nicky Harris, Halton Housing Trust development manager, said: “The work at Latham Avenue is one of the largest schemes we have embarked on in Runcorn.

“It will provide a mix of much needed homes, from apartments to three bedroom houses.

“Some will be available for sale through Seddon Homes, which is exciting news for the community.”

She added: “We are delighted to be working with Seddon again and are confident we will deliver a high quality scheme.”
