U7s’ great efforts are rewarded

-

HFH U7 Reds 16 Bank Quay U7 7 IN their performance of the year, Halton Farnworth Hornets U7s Reds gave a display that every player should be proud of.

From the off there was some ferocious tackling in the centre, led by Ollie Jenkins and George Sanderson who bossed the middle of the park leaving Bank Quay no option but to try and move the ball out wide.

Unfortunately for them, HFH had James Prescott, Cian Winstanley, Mason Rigby and Tyler Finnigan waiting to spoil every move.

Finnigan in particular made some outstanding textbook tackles that earned him the top tackler award after the match.

Going forward, it was HFH that showed all the pace with hat-tricks for Charlie George, Ollie Jenkins and James Prescot who earned the coaches’ award.

There were further tries for Cian Winstanley and Aaron Ward who each crossed twice and one for Max Jones. There was also a first of the season for Alfie Grabaskey.

In a game where every player deserved the man-of-the-match accolade, it seemed only fair that the award was duly given that way as it was a quite brilliant all-round team effort by the U7s. Latchford U13 12

HFH U13 38 THE Hornets’ U13s outfit breezed through to the quarter-finals of the Lancashire Cup following a fine win at Warrington’s Latchford.

In a dominant first half, tries from Owen Blackwood, Alex Sutton and Sam Craig put Halton 16-6 ahead at the break.

Jamie Holroyd opened Halton’s scoring tally in the second half before a Daniel Woodward single and a brace from Reese Sumner sealed the terrific victory.

Marco Williamson converted five from seven to tack on 10 points to the final scoreline of 38-12. ● More Hornets reports on page 59.
