Victim knocked unconscious by mystery attacker
AWOMAN was knocked unconscious after being hit in the face during an assault at her home in Runcorn.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said that the incident happened on De Lacy Row in Castlefields on Monday, August 22.
The victim – a 52-yearold woman – heard a knock at the door of her home at approximately 11.30pm.
She was met by an unknown man when she opened the door and the offender ‘hit’ her in the face, which caused her to fall to the floor and lose consciousness.
After waking up, the victim contacted the emergency services and was taken to Warrington District General Hospital with what police say were ‘serious’ injuries.
Investigating officer Inspector Clare Coleman said: “This was an extremely serious incident and we are keen to trace the person responsible so he can be brought to justice.
“We are currently carrying out a number of enquiries and as part of the investigation I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the De Lacy Row area around the time of the incident and believes they may have seen anything suspicious.
“As a result of this incident the victim sustained serious facial injuries and was left extremely shaken; she is currently receiving specialist support from our officers.”
