Victim knocked unconsciou­s by mystery attacker

AWOMAN was knocked unconsciou­s after being hit in the face during an assault at her home in Runcorn.

A Cheshire Constabula­ry spokesman said that the incident happened on De Lacy Row in Castlefiel­ds on Monday, August 22.

The victim – a 52-yearold woman – heard a knock at the door of her home at approximat­ely 11.30pm.

She was met by an unknown man when she opened the door and the offender ‘hit’ her in the face, which caused her to fall to the floor and lose consciousn­ess.

After waking up, the victim contacted the emergency services and was taken to Warrington District General Hospital with what police say were ‘serious’ injuries.

Investigat­ing officer Inspector Clare Coleman said: “This was an extremely serious incident and we are keen to trace the person responsibl­e so he can be brought to justice.

“We are currently carrying out a number of enquiries and as part of the investigat­ion I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the De Lacy Row area around the time of the incident and believes they may have seen anything suspicious.

“As a result of this incident the victim sustained serious facial injuries and was left extremely shaken; she is currently receiving specialist support from our officers.”
