CONVERTS TO SOCIAL MEDIA

- Jeanette Lewis, via email

AS members of the older generation, my husband and I have always thought that Facebook was a dangerous means of communication and have never used it.

However, after a most amazing experience this week, my faith in human nature and Facebook have been restored.

On Tuesday, we took our two grandchildren, Tess and Archie, to Llandudno for a picnic. After the picnic, we parked the car on the promenade and spent three hours of fun on the beech and pier.

After a tiring day, we returned home to the Wirral, only to discover our precious iPad was missing. It is precious because it holds four years of wonderful photographic history of holiday and grandchildren.

We contacted the North Wales police to report the iPad stolen/lost.

But there seemed little hope of it being handed in. The following morning, a lovely policeman phoned to tell us that his daughter-in-law had spotted that a man had put photographs of our screen saver on Facebook, saying he had found it and asking if anyone recognised our photograph.

The police officer contacted the man via Facebook and asked if he could pass on his details to us.

End result was us making contact with Christopher, who is from the Runcorn area and on holiday in North Wales, and arranged to drive back to North Wales to be re-united with the iPad.

There had been 2,000 responses to the article from people all over the country sending good wishes for the safe return back to the owner.

Our sincere thanks go to Christopher and his daughter who found the iPad, the wonderful police officer and his daughter-inlaw.

We are now converts to social media!
