PRETTY pooches with model qualities across Halton are being sought for a four-legged fashion show at a family fun day organised by a Widnes woman.
Lynn Spruce, owner of Mutzmacs, is looking for the Kate Moss and David Gandy of the canine world for the Pets On The Hill event at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre on Sunday, September 25, from 10am.
She established her handmade canine clothing business a decade ago when got two dogs, Cassie and Paddy, and was disappointed by the quality and cost of a lot of the dog fashion on the high street.
The 61-year-old, who now has four dogs, receives all sorts of requests from dog owners keen to buy her bespoke designs, which include tutus, bandanas, dresses and harnesses.
Lynn, who also works full-time in recruitment for Argos, said: “I am aiming to stage three fashion shows during the day and it would be lovely to have dogs of different sizes and breeds to take part.
“I don’t mind what type of dog they are. They all have star qualities but the crucial thing is that they need to be good with people and with other dogs. That’s the most important thing.”
Among her outfits, she receives commissions to make dog outfits for owners’ weddings where often the bandana in the tuxedo-style outfit will match the colour scheme set for the wedding and will be accompanied by a matching bow tie.
The fashion shows will be just one of the attractions at Pets On The Hill, which is run and organised by the Willows Veterinary Group.
Company spokesman David Crane said: “Pets On The Hill promises to be a fantastic family day out with lots to do.
“There will be a massive fun dog show, an exotics tent where children can come face to face with tarantulas and snakes, ferret racing, training and agility displays and lots of pet related stalls.”
