Bowling Club’s superb start to encounter sees them roll past Corpy

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division One, Simms Cross Institute at home to the Mill Brow SC conceded the first two games to the Brow’s Paul Linger and Chris Bright.

Glyn Owen recovered a point for the Stute, only to see the Brow’s opening pair Andy Davies and Dave Powell take the next game.

The Stute rallied, taking the next four games in a row via Glynn Owen & Andy Abbott, Ged McPartland & Dave Evans, Ged McPartland and Tony Green.

Dave Powell won the final game for the Mill Brow SC, but Simms Cross Institute took the match.

The Wellington at home to Halton Stadium saw the Stadium’s Joe Kelly (10 darts) and Eddie Dootson take the first two games.

Ste Whitfield (15 darts) recovered a point for the Wellington before the Stadium went ahead again through Eddie Dootson & Kev Garcia.

The Wellington levelled with two in a row from Anthony Hall & John Glover and Karl Whitfield & Ste Whitfield. Kev Garcia secured the next game for the Stadium, whilst Karl Whitfield and then John Glover (18 darts) won the final two contests and the match for the Wellington.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Corpy Club were almost unstoppabl­e as they took the first six games via Alex McGill, Scott Grady, Joe Batty and pairs, Tommy Robertson & Dave Gerrard, Joe Batty & Scott Grady and James Brown & Tex Bowles.

The Corpy won the next two games through Dave Pickles & Jeff Thompson whilst Mark Smith took the final game, wrapping up the match for Widnes Bowling Club.

In Division Two, Hough Green at home to the Cricketers Arms claimed the first game through George Plumpton. The Cricketers Arms matched the score via Damian Eustace.

Hough Green took the lead again through Russ Hardman, but a win from the Cricketers Arms’ opening pair, Tony Ainsworth & Arthur Shone levelled the score, before a further win from Damian Eustace & Jimmy Rawlinson took them ahead. Parity was once more restored as Russ Hardman & R McIntosh gave Hough Green the next game.

The Cricketers Arms rallied, taking the next three games and the match through Brian Mercer, John Mulholland and O Batty (15 darts).

The Mersey Hotel at home to Widnes Cricket Club took the game by default, as Widnes Cricket Club did not have enough players on the night.
