Bennett is right on target as Simmies grab thrilling victory over Brow

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

The Goldmine at home to Halton Stadium conceded the first game to the Stadium’s Alan Magee.

A Mullally then levelled for the Goldmine, but that was as good as it got for them as the Stadium took all the remaining seven games and the match through Kev Garcia (15 darts and a 156 checkout), Kev Garcia & Eddie Dootson, Joe Kelly (180) & Colin Rigby, Joe Price & Alan Clark, Kenny Murphy Joe Kilkenny and Eddie Dootson.

The Majors Arms at home to Widnes Bowling Club suffered badly as the Bowling Club took the first seven games via Alex McGill, Joe Batty, Dave Pickles, Joe Batty & Scott Grady, James Brown & Tommy Robertson, Ray Hatton & Dave Gerrard and Scott Grady.

The Majors took the penultimat­e game through Kev Grice whilst Dave Gerrard added the final game to Widnes Bowling Club’s already winning tally.

The Mersey Hotel at home to the Wellington started poorly as the first five games were taken by the Wellington’s Anthony Hall, Karl Whitfield (whose opponent Ray Cowley hit a 180), Terry Roach, Ste Whitfield & James Holden and John Lewis & Karl Windisch.

The Mersey recovered a point through D Shipley & Lisa Cotty, but the Wellington were still on a roll as they took the next three games wrapping up their success through Karl Windisch, Ste Whitfield and Karl Hackney.

The Mill Brow SC at home to the Simms Cross Institute took the first game through Paul Linger who fired a 105 checkout.

The Stute matched this through Glynn Owen, then went ahead via Tony Green.

The Brow’s opening pair, Paul Linger & Dave Powell, restored parity before Paul Bennett & Glynn Owen nudged the Stute ahead.

The Brow fought back, recording a win through Chris Bright & Carl Hackney.

Neither team were giving an inch as the Stute’s Kyle Yeomans and the Brow’s Chris Bright kept the score level at 4-4 heading into the final contest.

Paul Bennett decided the outcome in the final game as his win gave the Simms Cross Institute the match.

Widnes RUFC at home to the Millfield took an early lead in the encounter with two in a row through Mike Jones and Andy Griffiths.

The Millfield levelled the contest via Danny Wood and opening pair Dave Sutton & Ray Dutton.

The Wids went ahead again, this time through Sean Reid & Paul Murty.

Again, though, the Millfield levelled with a win from Mike Howard & Danny Wood.

The Millfield held fast, adding a further three victories from Mike Howard, Ray Dutton (19 darts) and Ian Wall to take the match.
