Club’s kit sponsors deal

-

A RUGBY team for children in Widnes has been boosted after a homes builder agreed to sponsor their hooded tops.

Widnes Rugby Union Football Club’s (RUFC) under-11s were seeking new clothing to keep the children warm before and after matches during the winter.

The club has been home to a full junior section of teams for 25 years, and also has three senior sides.

Several businesses were approached and Miller Homes chose to support the team, which is located near the firm’s Fairfield Gardens development in Widnes.

The kits were presented at the club’s annual registration day.

Mike Feeley is involved in coaching, playing and fundraising for the club.

He said: “We were thrilled when Miller Homes came forward to sponsor our new tops as they’re a great supporter of the community and this has been a big help for the team.”

He added: “Our new hooded tops are great and we had great fun wearing them in.”

Samantha Johnson, the sales director for Miller Homes North West, said: “Getting involved with the local community is extremely important to us and we always strive to support local sports clubs where possible.

“Widnes RUFC is a great club and offers a lot to the community so we are delighted to be able to sponsor their under-11s’ new hooded tops.”
