CHESHIRE BUSINESS AWARDS 2016 Which top companies are the cream of the crop?
THE next significant stage of the 2016 Trinity Mirror Cheshire Business Awards scheme, sponsored by SAS Daniels, has arrived as we reveal the third and final shortlist for this year’s honours.
We have been asking businesses from across the region to nominate themselves, or another business they know well, for one of the awards.
There were 11 categories to choose from and the awards were open to all businesses whatever the size of trade.
Jeremy Orrell, head of the corporate team at SAS Daniels, said: “Having supported the awards for several years we have fortunately had the chance to keep in touch with previous winners and see what a positive impact entering and winning an award has been. These are the businesses that make this region so vibrant and successful.”
A Bentley Motors spokesman said: “Bentley Motors is proud to sponsor the Young Business Person of the Year Award. With around 4,000 colleagues based in Crewe, Bentley is one of South Cheshire’s largest employers.
“The combination of fine craftsmanship, using skills that have been handed down through generations, alongside engineering expertise and cutting-edge technology is unique to luxury car brands such as Bentley.
“The company is committed to developing young talent; Bentley offers trainee programmes, including apprenticeships and graduate schemes, around 150 work experience placements each year and has an established school liaison programme providing workshops in local schools. Bentley has created over 100 apprentice opportunities in the past two years, maintaining the company’s future talent focus.
“The Young Business Person of the Year Award is an important means of celebrating the success of Cheshire’s young business people and inspiring the next generation of local entrepreneurs.”
This week we highlight the shortlists in the final four categories:
Innovation and Enterprise Award: The judges were overwhelmed with the standard of entries in this category and it was difficult to decide on only three finalists. They decided that there were seven companies all worthy of a place on the shortlist, they are: TechnoSpark; Car Tinting UK Ltd; Chester Cathedral; Cheshire Farm Ice Cream; Hallnet Ltd; Beer Dock; Iron Gut Publishing.
Judges’ Choice Award: There is no shortlist for this award, the judges select a winner from all of the businesses who entered and the winner will be revealed at the awards ceremony.
Young Business Person of the Year: Josh Brown and Tom Haworth from TechnoSpark; Samuel McGarrigle from Beer Dock; Rhiannon Thompson from Spinney Day Nurseries.
Business Person of the Year: The Business Person of the year is selected by the judges’ and will be an individual who stands out from the crowd, has an entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrates outstanding achievement and inspires others around them. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony.
Winners will be revealed at the celebration awards dinner on Friday, October 7, hosted by Lucy Meacock, held in the spectacular surroundings of Chester Cathedral.
