Latchford put a lock on Reds

-

Latchford U10 32 HFH U10 Reds 16 THE Hornets found it tough going away from home against a welldrilled Latchford side.

The opening exchanges were evenly matched, but it was Latchford who were first on the scoresheet with a six-pointer.

The Hornets hit straight back when Jake Davies took the ball in his own half and his determination saw him break through the Latchford defence and go virtually the length of the field to score in the corner. He also added the extras.

However it was Latchford who scored another converted try just before the interval to lead 12-6 at the break.

The second half did not start well for the Hornets with Latchford adding another converted score, but Davies did reply immediately when he used his strength near the line to score.

Mason Leather added on the two.

Latchford then seemed to step up a gear, scoring two more tries.

The Hornets never gave up and replied with a try from Sam Fitzsimon when he dummied over close to the line.

Despite their best efforts the Hornets were unable to add any further points and it was Latchford who had the final say with a late try.

Top tackler was awarded to Harry Robertson for some excellent last ditch defending, with the coaches’ award jointly going to Riely O’Brien and Jake Davies for their outstanding displays.

HFH Reds U8 14 Portico Panthers U8 8 THE winning run continued for the U8 Reds after another great team display.
