Young safety officers appointed

-

● THREE children at a Runcorn school have been made junior safety officers.

The youngsters from Palace Fields Primary School were selected as part of a scheme being led by Halton Borough Council in partnership with Cheshire police and Cheshire Fire And Rescue Service.

The scheme’s aim is to keep children safe at school and at home.

The young officers were invited to attend a launch night at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes along with their teacher.

In addition to meeting Halton’s mayor of Halton, the children were each presented with a certificate and their safety officer badges.

The school has recently entered into a partnership with Safety Central Lifeskills Centre, which is due to open later this year.

As a partner school, the whole of Year 6 will visit the centre prior to it being officially opened, trial workshops and give feedback on the activities they have taken part in.

The school’s executive principal Annette Williams said: “Here at school, we are always so impressed with how the community of Palace Fields works to support each other.

“Our children have taken this to the next level as we now have three fully-trained junior safety officers.

“I am so proud of all they have worked so hard to achieve!”
