Stunning start by Widnes Bowling Club helps them roll past Stute

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

The Goldmine at home to the Millfield took the first game through John Taylor.

Chris Taylor then levelled for the Millfield before teammate Alan Sutton added a further win with a 103 checkout.

The Goldmine’s opening pair, John Taylor & James Holden then brought the score level.

A further victory from the Goldmine’s Sean Bell & Peter Mullally took them into the lead.

But once again, the Millfield clung on taking the next game through Alan Sutton & Chris Taylor.

Then two in a row from the Goldmine’s Adam Mullally and Barry Noonan sorted out the outcome in their favour.

Ronnie Greylish claimed the final game for the Millfield.

The Mersey Hotel at home to the Mill Brow SC took the first game through Paul Cotty.

The Brow levelled via Dave Powell and then went into the lead with three in a row from Chris Bright, Tommy Owen & Carl Hackney and Paul Linger & Bryan Spruce.

The Mersey recovered a point via Paul Cotty & Rob Cotty, only to see the Mill Brow SC take a further two games and the match through Carl Hackney and Eric Peel. The Mersey’s Ray Cowley took the final game.

The Wellington at home to Halton Stadium conceded the first game to the Stadium’s Alan Magee.

John Glover then levelled for the Wellington.

The Stadium went ahead again through Kevin Garcia (18 darts), but yet again the Wellington levelled, this time via their opening pair, John Glover & Anthony Hall.

The Stadium responded with three in a row from Kevin Garcia & Eddie Dootson, Joe Price & Colin Rigby and John Kilkenny (180).

Terry Roach (18 darts) claimed the penultimat­e game for the Wellington, whilst Neil Ward (180) won the final game wrapping up a 6-3 triumph for Halton Stadium.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to Simms Cross Institute had a fantastic start, taking the first seven games through Joe Batty, Scott Grady, Alex McGill (18 darts and a 180) Alex McGill & Tommy Robertson (17 darts), Scott Grady & Joe Batty, Tex Bowles & James Brown and Tommy Robertson.

The Stute put themselves onto the scoresheet in the penultimat­e game through Paul Bennet, whilst Widnes Bowling Club took the final game with Mark Smith victorious.
