Caitlin Fairbrother gained her place at the competition held at the NEC in Birmingham when she won a gold medal at the regional heats earlier this year.

After discovering she had secured her place in the final, the former Wade Deacon High School pupil continued to work hard to prepare and with the help of her tutors at the college she spent many extra hours perfecting her treatments.

The final consisted of the top scoring winners from across the country performing different tasks over two gruelling days.

It involved facials, manicure and pedicure, eye treatments, waxing and full make-up in front of five highly respected industry judges and thousands of keen spectators.

Caitlin was eventually placed in the top three beauticians in the com- petition by the judges who awarded her the bronze medal.

Head of The Centre Of Excellence In Hair And Beauty at Riverside College Lyn Rhodes said: “We are extremely proud of Caitlin and her splendid and well deserved medal.

“Not only did she have the opportunity to dem- ● onstrate the high level of skills she has learnt over the last few years at the college by reaching the finals of the World Skills UK competition, but she has also inspired future students with her hard work and dedication.

“She is a great ambassador for Riverside College and has a great future ahead of her.”
