Retail apprentice joins the Vikings

-

A WIDNES Vikings supporter has joined the club as a retail apprentice.

Kyle Randles, 17, will be working at the Vikings Superstore located within Tesco Extra on Lugsdale Road.

He will be combining his employment with gaining qualifications from Riverside College.

Kyle, who has been a Vikings supporter from a young age, said: “It’s a great experience to be involved with the club.

“I can already tell there’s a great team here and I have fitted in quite well within the group. It’s a job I know I’m going to enjoy because of the varying type of things you can do every day, and I’m really happy to join.

“I’m hoping that the apprenticeship will help with my customer service skills and I think that my confidence in myself and in the shop will also be developed during my time here.”

The apprenticeship has been offered through a partnership between Widnes Vikings and Riverside College.

Traci Van Marle, from Riverside, said: “It is fantastic for Widnes Vikings to recognise the talent in Halton and the value of recruiting apprentices through Riverside College.

“Congratulations to Kyle on securing his retail apprenticeship to support the sales and marketing for the Vikings Superstore.

“We look forward to working ● closely with the Vikings to train and develop their apprentices in sports and retail.”

Vikings director Brian O’Connor said the apprenticeship was ‘another example’ of the Super League outfit’s ‘developing partnership’ with Riverside College.

He added: “As one of our major supporters, we already have a number of successful programmes that the partnership offers and I have no doubt that the apprenticeship programme will be no different.

“Kyle has made an immediate impact and has settled well into the team.

“I wish him the best of luck with his qualification and have high hopes that this will lead to a full time role within the Vikings organisation and a clear career path.”
