New face on Town’s committee
RUNCORN TOWN has announced a new name on its committee.
Tony Richards joined the board from the beginning of this month.
Dudley-born Richards moved to Runcorn in the 1980s. He began as a fan of Wolverhampton Wanderers before switching his support to Everton when he moved home.
A retired site manager for an executive homes builder in the North West, he has a vast contracts knowledge.
In a statement on the club’s website, a club spokesman said: “Tony has been a supporter of the club for a number of years and has recently helped us in a volunteering capacity.
“He has been co-opted on to the committee from December 1 and is actively looking at ground development.”
Elsewhere at Runcorn Town, the first-team will face Atherton Collieries at Pavilions on Saturday, March 11, kick-off 3pm.
The game was postponed in the last week of November due to both sides’ involvement in The Macron Cup. This leaves just the home game against Maine Road and the away clash at Irlam to be re-arranged.
Meantime, Town will once again be taking the club minibus to Winsford on Saturday for the club’s Hallmark Security League Premier Division match with 1874 Northwich. The fixed fare is £5 as usual.
The minibus is leaving Pavilions at 1.30pm, getting to Winsford in plenty of time for the game, and returning at full-time.
