Abbott’s boost for the ‘Stute

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division One, the Corpy Club at home to Simms Cross Institute had a bad start as they conceded the first four games to the Stute’s Tony Green (15 darts), Ged McPartland (14 darts), Glyn Owen (17 darts) and opening pair, Ged McPartland & Glyn Owen.

The Corpy fought back, taking two in a row via Neil Platt & Andy Ruane and Mike Ruane & Alan Moran.

The Stute stopped the Corpy in its tracks as Andy Abbott gave his side the vital fifth point and the match.

It what were merely consolatio­n victories, the Corpy took the final two games through Andy Ruane & Mike Ruane.

Halton Stadium at home to the Millfield saw Mike Howard (18 darts) give the Millfield an early lead.

However, a win from Alan Magee in the next game levelled the score.

Alan Sutton (19 darts) took the Millfield ahead again.

Once more, though, the Stadium levelled, this time through their opening pair J Kelly & Alan Clark.

The Millfield then surged ahead taking four in a row to seal success as D Wood & Chris Taylor (11 darts), Billy Fox & Alan Sutton, Adam Mellor and D Wood (18 darts) all won.

Joe Price won the final game for the Stadium.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Wellington secured the first game through Tex Bowles. Ste Whitfield then levelled for the Wellington.

The Bowler’s Scott Grady took them ahead, but the Wellington’s opening pair, Anthony Hall & John Glover soon levelled the score.

That, however, was to be as good as it got for the Wellington as Widnes Bowling Club became unstoppabl­e, taking the remaining five games and the match through Joe Batty & Scott Grady, Harry Ellis & M Smith, Joe Batty (14 darts), M Smith & Dave Gerrard.
