All is clear, all is Bright as Mill Brow’s Chris seals Hatton Cup glory

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the latter stages of the Hatton Cup were played at Widnes Bowling Club.

In the first quarter-final, Mill Brow SC ‘A’ took on Widnes RUFC with the Brow’s Eric Peel winning the opener.

Andy Griffiths then levelled for the Wids. The Brow then rallied taking the remaining three games and the match through Chris Bright, Paul Linger and Tommy Owens (127 checkout).

In the second quarter-final, the Millfield ‘B’ faced Mill Brow SC ‘B’.

The Millfield began well and claimed the first two games via Chris Taylor and Keith Horabin.

The Brow came back to level, with two in a row from Dave Jones and Jack Dunn.

The outcome was decided as Billy Fox secured the final game and the match for the Millfield ‘B’.

In the third quarter-final, Halton Stadium ‘A’ were up against Wellington ‘B’.

The Stadium were in great form and by taking four in a row via Alan Magee, Joe Kelly, Eddie Dootson and Kevin Garcia they booked their spot in the last four. Terry Roach took the final game for the Wellington to ensure there was no whitewash.

In the fourth quarter-final, Halton Stadium ‘B’ took on the Mersey Hotel.

In a powerful performanc­e, Halton Stadium ‘B’ took all five games through John Kilkenny, Neil Ward, Alan Clark, Joe Price and Colin Rigby.

In the first semi-final, the Millfield ‘B’ faced Mill Brow SC ‘A’.

Billy Fox and Alan Sutton gave the Millfield the first two games.

The Brow levelled with two in row from Paul Linger and Eric Peel and then took the match with a win in the decider from Chris Bright.

In the second semi-final, Halton Stadium ‘B’ took on Halton Stadium ‘A’.

The Stadium ‘B’ earned their final place as they won the first three games via Alan Clark, John Kilkenny and Neil Ward (18 darts and a 156 finish). Keven Garcia (16 darts) recovered a point for the ‘A’ team, only to see Joe Price take the final game and the match for Halton Stadium ‘B’.

In the final, the Mill Brow SC ‘A’ took on Halton Stadium ‘B’.

The Stadium won the first game through Joe Price, but the Brow were not to go down easily as they levelled through Tommy Owens.

The Stadium took the advantage again as Neil Ward claimed the third game leaving the Stadium requiring just one of the last two games.

The Brow, needing to win to stay in the final, levelled, this time via Paul Linger leaving the match on a knife edge.

With only the final game to play and the trophy resting on the outcome, Chris Bright with a timely 16 dart display stepped up to secure the match and the Hatton Cup for the Mill Brow SC ‘A’.
