Golden Arches win battle of the fast food diners
ONE might have the word ‘king’ in its title but it is Ronald McDonald who reigns burger fans’ hearts in Runcorn according to Trip Advisor reviews of the town’s main fast food outlets.
McDonald’s, on West Lane near Asda, came out top when compared to nearby Burger King and KFC.
Diners gave McDonald’s three stars out of five based on 30 reviews while Burger King, also West Lane, and KFC, on Hospital Way, both received one-and-a-half stars.
At time of writing, Burger King had leapfrogged KFC during the week to claim second place of the three. ●

Trip Advisor reviewers pulled no punches in their damning comments for KFC and Burger King, laying into the quality of service and food, with occasional good reviews.
Despite having an overall better score of three stars, McDonald’s also had some poor reviews alongside ones praising the outlet.
Fans of the famous burger chain included Trip Advisor user ‘Runcorn Burger’, gave the store five stars in February, writing that staff were ‘very helpful’ and the restaurant was ‘spotlessly clean’.
Criticism for Burger King included claims it was ‘filthy’ with ‘terrible service’. ●
KFC complaints included missing items and slow service described as ‘rubbish’.
KFC told the Weekly News it has changed its management because of bad reviews.
A McDonald’s spokeswoman said she could not comment on individual issues raised because of the volume of request the company receives from the press but said the firm was ‘pleased’ to be in first place.
A KFC spokesman said: “We’re really disappointed by the ratings and comments left about this restaurant, and have since changed the management team to ensure it offers customers the great experience we expect.”
