Golden Arches win bat­tle of the fast food din­ers

ONE might have the word ‘king’ in its ti­tle but it is Ron­ald McDon­ald who reigns burger fans’ hearts in Run­corn ac­cord­ing to Trip Ad­vi­sor re­views of the town’s main fast food out­lets.

McDon­ald’s, on West Lane near Asda, came out top when com­pared to nearby Burger King and KFC.

Din­ers gave McDon­ald’s three stars out of five based on 30 re­views while Burger King, also West Lane, and KFC, on Hos­pi­tal Way, both re­ceived one-and-a-half stars.

At time of writ­ing, Burger King had leapfrogged KFC dur­ing the week to claim sec­ond place of the three. ●

Trip Ad­vi­sor re­view­ers pulled no punches in their damn­ing com­ments for KFC and Burger King, lay­ing into the qual­ity of ser­vice and food, with oc­ca­sional good re­views.

Despite hav­ing an over­all bet­ter score of three stars, McDon­ald’s also had some poor re­views along­side ones prais­ing the out­let.

Fans of the fa­mous burger chain in­cluded Trip Ad­vi­sor user ‘Run­corn Burger’, gave the store five stars in Fe­bru­ary, writ­ing that staff were ‘very help­ful’ and the restau­rant was ‘spot­lessly clean’.

Crit­i­cism for Burger King in­cluded claims it was ‘filthy’ with ‘ter­ri­ble ser­vice’. ●

KFC com­plaints in­cluded miss­ing items and slow ser­vice de­scribed as ‘rub­bish’.

KFC told the Weekly News it has changed its man­age­ment be­cause of bad re­views.

A McDon­ald’s spokes­woman said she could not com­ment on in­di­vid­ual is­sues raised be­cause of the vol­ume of re­quest the com­pany re­ceives from the press but said the firm was ‘pleased’ to be in first place.

A KFC spokesman said: “We’re re­ally dis­ap­pointed by the rat­ings and com­ments left about this restau­rant, and have since changed the man­age­ment team to en­sure it of­fers cus­tomers the great ex­pe­ri­ence we ex­pect.”
