Firefighte­rs put trust in teams

FIREFIGHTE­RS are recruiting a team of young people from Halton to take part in the next Prince’s Trust programme.

The programme is based at Runcorn Fire Station and is a 12-week course that gives young people between the ages of 16 and 25 the opportunit­y to learn skills, complete qualificat­ions and gain greater self-confidence.

It will begin on Monday, January 30.

The students were also treated to an inspiring discussion about the digital industry, the different skills that are required to be successful and the many different job roles in the sector.

Cheshire Fire And Rescue Service (CFRS) Prince’s Trust project coordinato­r Tamsen Lesko said: “This programme is designed to help develop young people’s skills and confidence through practical community projects and work experience.

“The primary focus here is team work within the community, which supports our local neighbourh­oods.

“Experience shows us that 80% of all graduates from the programme have helped the students to interact with the tasks effectivel­y and provided them techniques that they can apply to both their studies and also their future careers.

“The insight from Michael and Luma has really helped the students to engage with a variety of job roles that they hadn’t previously considered.” ● gone on to achieve things as a result, this includes getting back into, or going forward into, education or gaining employment and training.”

CFRS has had a strong partnershi­p with the Prince’s Trust for more than 20 years and continues to experience benefits from the work it does.

The programme aims to move young people into full time employment and job -elated training.

Programme manager Jason McTigue said: “This ● 12-week programme is perfect for any young person who is stuck in a rut or needs something challengin­g to do. The programme is all about helping young people meet their full potential.

“We are asking anyone between 16 to 25 years of age who would like to gain qualificat­ions, improve motivation, self-confidence, and be part of a Prince’s Trust team to get in touch.”
