CONSTRUCTION of a state-of-the-art business facility has been completed at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

Techspace One is a threestorey building comprising 46,000 sq ft of wet and dry laboratories, offices, meeting hubs and break-out areas and will be occupied by companies in sectors such as biomedical, materials and clean technology.

Tenants have access to features such as fume extraction, liquid waste disposal, materials and gas bottle storage areas, an on-site nitrogen supply, compressed air and natural gas, and ground floor labs with external door access. The building also has high-speed internet connectivity. A spokeswoman for joint venture partner Langtree said Techspace One is already attracting interest from top companies.

It follows the announcement that a record 34 firms moved to the science park last year and the opening of Techspace Two in September and the recent coup of hosting Prime Minister Theresa May as she held the first regional cabinet meeting.

The buildings are anticipated to create 350 jobs at the campus. Due to Techspace One and Two being located within Daresbury Enterprise Zone, tenant firms will be eligible for financial incentives such as reduced business rates over five years.

Neal Biddle, Langtree group development director and SciTech Daresbury joint venture board director, said: “We’re delighted that the Techspace project is now complete and look forward to welcoming more new businesses to SciTech Daresbury.

“Techspace One, together with its sister building provide grade A office accommodation and the highest specification laboratory space and will help cement our reputation as a hot house of excellence, championing technology within the sector and a dedicated focus on open innovation.”

Jayne Furnival, Langtree group property director, said: “Both these facilities offer businesses unrivalled opportunities to collaborate with likeminded businesses, to access professional and scientific expertise and to identify valuable partnership opportunities all of which will aid the rapid commercialisation of innovation.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury is a private-public joint-venture partnership between developer Langtree, the Science And Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Halton Council.
