Employment scheme leads to full-time job
A SOFTWARE apprentice from Runcorn based with a key Mersey Gateway bridge project supplier has earned a full time role after completing his qualification.
Harry Watts was placed with IT and cloud computing specialist Adept4 and was one of 28 young adults place in apprenticeships in the bridge project’s supply chain in the last three years via the Merseylink consortium’s employment skills programme.
A Merseylink spokesman said it has also entered similar partnerships with highways contractor Lafarge Tarmac, Altrad scaffolding firm and Sword Engineering.
Harry said: “I was made up when I was offered the chance to take up a position with Adept4.
“While working at the company I have managed to complete a range of IT and computing qualifications, and have gained experience on some extremely exciting IT projects.
“The chance to work at the company full time was a dream opportunity.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Adept4 and Merseylink for their help, without which I wouldn’t have had this chance.”
Jane Crothers, Adept4 head of service operations, said: “We’re really pleased that Harry has joined the team on a full-time basis.
“Harry has passed the Microsoft Networking Fundamentals, Security Fundamentals and Windows Server Administration Fundamentals, all of which are essential to a career in IT and networking.
“Since joining us he has grown in confidence, and was doing such a good job that we offered him a full-time contract. He is going from strength to strength.” ●
