A Patient start leads to big win

-

WIDNES’S second XV lost ground in the race for the Raging Bull Division Three South title following their 32-25 defeat at the hands of third place New Brighton seconds at Reeds Lane.

The third XV saw Birkenhead Park concede their Division Five West fixture as they were unable to raise a team. The ‘win’ still leaves Widnes as one of the favourites for promotion with two games in hand over their nearest rivals. ● Widnes U9s won a triple-header against Liverpool Collegiate. Tries came from Matthew Hughes, Lennon King, Louis Favour, Lyla Finch, Ethan Becker, Alex Moss and player-ofthe-match Frankie Jones. ● Widnes’s seconds and thirds are both in semi-final cup action away from home this weekend. The seconds travel up the M6 to Cumbria to play Penrith whilst the thirds also make the trip up the same motorway for a clash with Garstang. ● Widnes Colts achieved their highest score of the season with a 72-12 victory over Leigh Colts.

They were on the scoreboard after just two minutes when Jamie Patient crossed for the first try. It was followed by regular scores across the contest. The other tries came from Dan Doyle, Andy Owens (3), Will Johnson (3), Josh Salter, Allen Breeden, Luke Millington and Alex Howell with the trusty boot of Owens doing the rest. Man-of-the-match was Jamie Patient run closely by Will Johnson. from 7/1 from 10/1 from 25/1 from 6/1 from 11/1
