Bowling Club are on a roll with four late victories to see off the Stute

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

Mill Brow SC at home to the Mersey Hotel, saw John Cotty give the Mersey the first game, but Tommy Owens stepped up and levelled for the Brow.

The Mersey took the lead again through Rob Cotty. Again the Brow levelled, this time via Dean Birk & Jack Dunn. A further four wins from Dave Powell & Chris Bright, Paul Linger & Tommy Owens, Dave Powell and Chris Bright ensured Mill Brow’s victory with one game still to go. The Mersey took the final game through Paul Cotty.

The Millfield at home to the Goldmine conceded the first game to the visitors’ John Taylor. However, they soon levelled through Chris Hall before grabbing the lead with a further two wins from Billy Fox and opening pair, Chris Taylor & Danny Wood.

The Goldmine struck back claiming the next four games as Sean Bell & John Taylor, Adam Mullally & Peter Mullally, Sean Bell and Adam Mullally were all victorious, sealing their triumph. The Millfield’s Adam Mellor won the final game.

Simms Cross Institute at home to Widnes Bowling Club conceded the first two games to the Bowler’s Dave Gerrard and Dave Pickles. Paul Batty then recovered a point for the Stute. However the Bowler took the next game through their opening pair, Tommy Robertson & Alex McGill to widen the gap again.

Once again the Stute fought back, taking a point through Glynn Owen & Paul Batty.

But from this point the Widnes Bowling Club surged ahead, taking the final four games and the match through Tex Bowles & Dave Gerrard, Scott Grady (18 darts), Joe Batty and Tommy Robertson.

Widnes RUFC at home to the Majors Arms started badly as they lost the first four games to the Majors’ Mark France, Darren Attwood, Andy O’Grady and Kev Grice & Darren Attwood.

The Wids recovered a point via Andy Griffiths & Ian Nicholson, only to see Luke Carey & Nicky Duff and Nicky Duff take the next two games for the Majors.

Ian Nicolson gave the Wids the penultimat­e game, whilst Kev Grice took the final game wrapping up the match for the Majors Arms.
