Defence is bedrock to super win

HFH U13 30 HALTON travelled to Leigh Miners and put in a very good team performanc­e to score six unanswered tries.

The visitors dominated the game from start to finish, putting in a solid defensive display that enabled the team to score some decent tries on the back of it.

Harry Keeley opened the scoring with a long-range effort followed by two good tries for Sam Haynes. Adam Holroyd scored a good individual try from halfway stepping past the Leigh full-back to score under the posts.

In the second half, full-back Ben Lane returned a kick with interest to score a fine try. Ben then sent Liam Hurley flying over out wide from 20 out to complete the scoring.

Charlie Glover kicked two goals and Ben kicked one to make the final score 30-0.

It was good to see the team throwing the ball around and scoring some really good tries on the back of it. Man-of-thematch was awarded to Nathan Bannerman. Second was Sam Haynes, with Ben Lane third.

HFH U14 24 Rochdale Mayfield 16 HORNETS U14s got back to winning ways with an impressive 24-16 win against a determined Rochdale Mayfield side.

Alex Sutton led the way with a super treble and four conversion­s with Josh Morris crossing for the fourth try. Matthew Chandler was excellent throughout and the opposition’s man-of-the-match was awarded to Sam Craig.
