Teams compete to make further progress in the Mill Brow SC Cup

ON Friday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC Cup was played.

At Simms Cross Institute in the preliminar­y round, Simms Cross Institute ‘B’ faced Mill Brow ‘A’. The Stute’s Glynn Owen and Paul Batty took the first two games to ensure their progress. Ray Linger won the final game for the Brow to avoid a whitewash.

In the first round, Simms Cross ‘B’ took on the Cricketers ‘A’. Graham Fenney gave the Cricketers an early lead, but a win from the Stute’s Glynn Owen levelled the score. Brian Dwyer then secured the final game and the match for Cricketers Arms ‘A’.

At the Mersey, the Mersey Hotel ‘B’ were up against Hough Green SC ‘A’.

Keith Glover claimed the first game for Hough Green, before Danny Cotterill levelled for the Mersey. With all resting on the final game a further win went to the Mersey as Lisa Cotty booked their place in the next round.

At the Goldmine, the Goldmine ‘B’ faced Wellington ‘B’. John Lewis gave the Wellington the first game before Sean Bell levelled for the Goldmine. Anthony Hall then took the final game and the match for the Wellington ‘B’.

At the Birchfield, the Birchfield ‘B’ played Millfield ‘C’. Billy Fox gave the Millfield the first game, only to see the Birchfield level through Ian Sharples (19 darts).

Chris Taylor then won the final game and the match for the Millfield ‘C’.

At Widnes Bowling Club, the Millfield ‘A’ went through unopposed.

At Halton Stadium, Halton Stadium ‘A’ faced Birchfield ‘A’. Carl Bryan (17 darts) and Matty Fisher (16 darts) ensured the Birchfield’s victory as they secured the first two games. Eddie Dootson won the final game for the Stadium.

At Hough Green SC, Hough Green ‘B’ faced the Mersey ‘A’.

The Mersey ‘A’ claimed the first two games through Rob Cotty and Paul Cotty. Ste Cosgrove won a consolatio­n final game for Hough Green.

At Corpy Club, the Corpy Club ‘B’ were up against Widnes Cricket Club ‘A’.

Mike Ruane took the first game for Corpy. Kev Baxter then levelled for Cricket Club. A further win from Ernie Griffiths ensured Widnes Cricket Club’s victory.

At Halton Stadium, Halton Stadium ‘B’ faced the Majors Arms. Luke Carey and Darren Attwood (14 darts) won the first two games for the Majors to ensure their progress. In a consolatio­n, Joe Price (12 darts) took the final game for the Stadium.

At the Cricketers Arms, the Cricketers Arms ‘B’ went through unopposed.

At Widnes Bowling Club, Widnes Bowling Club ‘A’ took on the Wellington ‘A’.

The Wellington ‘A’ secured all three games and the match through Karl Whitfield, Barry Highfield and Ste Whitfield.

At the Goldmine, the Goldmine ‘A’ locked horns with Simms Cross Institute ‘A’.

The Stute had a good night as they won all three games through Ged McPartland, Tony Green and Mick Cullen.

At Widnes Cricket Club, Widnes Cricket Club ‘B’ took on the Corpy Club ‘A’.

Andy Ruane claimed the first game for the Corpy. The Cricket Club levelled through D Morris.

Alan Moran then took the final game and the match for the Corpy Club ‘A’.

At Hough Green SC, the Corpy Club ‘C’ went through unopposed.

At Mill Brow SC, the Mill Brow SC ‘B’ took on the Millfield ‘B’. The Brow’s Carl Hackney and Chris Bright took the first two games, whilst Ian Wall gave the Millfield the final game but not the match.

At the Cricketers Arms, Widnes Bowling Club ‘B’ went through unopposed.
